I know this isn't a new concept, but it is something relatively new to me. Over the six months (since I've returned to work, I guess), I've become the kind of person who if I see something I like, I get it. My justification is that I work really hard (at work and at home) and should enjoy the little things in life. After having Grace with a year of living in sweatpants and losing a dress size, I can safely say I felt like I needed to revamp my style and wardrobe as I re-entered the corporate world.
Well... online shopping has got the best of me. I have an obsession. It's so easy to browse through look books or style guides and covet items. Plus Jcrew's awesome sales don't help (eek).
My sisters and I went to Japan mid last year on a shopping spree. Sure, we saw some sites and ate some amazing food, but we were mainly there to shop. And shop we did. When I returned home, I promised Joel I wouldn't buy anymore clothes for the year. Ha. I should never make promises I can't keep.
On Tuesday, while walking from different office buildings for work meetings, I quickly ducked into the shops, just for a look. Three Sportscraft tops later (and a bag and two play necklaces for Grace), I felt incredibly guilty. So much so, that I didn't want to tell Joel about my purchases. They were a gift! They were Amanda's who left them for me when she went to Sydney! Nope, I couldn't lie to him so I told him the truth.
Big deal! Three tops? Pfft. Well... I guess it didn't help that on the Friday night, I took advantage of Jcrew's extra 40% off sale and bought a jacket, work pants and a jumper. Then on Saturday, while shopping with my mother-in-law, I bought a Jigsaw suit. So yes, the guilt thermometer was high on Tuesday.
And so my sisters and I have made a pact to not buy any shoes, accessories or clothes in February. We tried doing this in October but Amanda caved in pretty quick and one week into the challenge, Seed had an awesome sale on so I bought some stuff but I swear I didn't buy stuff one month from that date.
And now for some random pics of my sisters and I in Japan. Coz I love looking through photos.
So wish us luck on our clothing fast! I'm pretty sure we'll need it.
